Seneca Community Players
Director's Information Page

Seneca Community Players invites theatre directors from throughout the region to submit proposals for its 2010 season.

If you are interested in directing a play or musical production for SCP next year, visit www.SenecaCommunityPlayers.org and download a proposal form. Whether you are a first time director or a seasoned vet, the organization encourages new and innovative ideas and titles while also welcoming old favorites.

Information required on the proposal form includes title of show, expected audition and production dates, preferred venue, proposed production staff, and an estimated budget. All proposal forms should be accompanied by a copy of the script. If you are new to the group or have not directed for SCP before, include a list of your theatrical experiences, including any productions you have directed, produced, stage-managed or performed in, and the theatrical organizations with which you worked.

Members of SCP's board of directors are available throughout the application process to offer assistance in completing the proposal form and to answer questions. Board members are listed on the Web site.

Submit the completed proposal to P.O. Box 45, Seneca Falls, N.Y. 13148 or to a member of the SCP Board by September 1, 2009.

SCP's board will consider all proposals. It will determine those to be produced during 2010 at its regular meeting in November. Prospective directors will be contacted immediately following. An announcement of the new season will be made by the end of December.

Dear Director,

Thank you for your interest in directing with the Seneca Community Players.  We are always looking for new faces as well as those who have been with us for many successful shows.  We are excited to be planning our next season and even more excited to see the ideas our wonderful directors have in mind!  Whether you are a first time director or a seasoned vet – please take the time to read the following information while gathering your staff and creativity for your proposal.

For those of you who are new to the group, let us take the time to explain what a year of shows has looked like in the past for the players.  SCP seasons have typically been comprised of 4-5 shows with large musicals and youth productions usually being presented during the summer and straight plays and small musicals rounding out our season. We certainly do not restrict ourselves to these traditions.   The board of directors encourages new and innovative ideas for shows as well as welcomes old favorites.

When you have your show and staff in place, please submit a proposal form to the board of directors within the timeline set forth on the season policies page.  In addition to submitting the proposal form and four copies of the script for the play reading committee, please note that you will need to apply for the rights to the show and the venue early enough to bring a concrete yes or no by the time the proposals are voted upon.

If your show is selected to be a part of our season, please be aware that we will be presenting our shows in a season format as opposed to individually.  To accomplish this, a meeting of producers of all approved shows will take place before the start of the season. (see season polices) At this meeting, we will be discussing season publicity, season tickets, fundraising, and season programs.

Thank you for your interest and participation in our next season.  We hope to be receiving proposals from many of you soon!
